In the coffee-centric culture that is the Balkans, tea is a drink only for the sick. But the herbal teas that locals usually think of when they hear the word "tea" are a tiny speck in the vast universe of tea varieties. It's now possible to find many different types of tea in Serbia, even outside of Belgrade.
t element - Belgrade
Perhaps considered the go-to tea shop for Chinese teas since they opened in early 2024, t element has several indoor tables and regular tea events. They have a large assortment of tea and teaware for sale. Their events are announced only through their telegram, not on their instagram.
Kuća čaja - Belgrade
One of the oldest tea stores in Belgrade, Kuća čaja might be a better option for herbal teas than caffeinated teas.
Salon de thé - Belgrade
The interior of this tea store is designed to be a cozy environment rather than a homage to Asian tea traditions. The colorful teaware and seating arrangements look more oriented towards enjoying British afternoon tea.
TeaTalk - Belgrade
TeaTalk serves both traditional Chinese tea, bubble tea, and some Chinese snacks. Although you may hear some noise from the busy nearby intersection, the interior decor is calming.
Youran Tea House - Belgrade
Youran is more of a restaurant with a good tea selection than a tea house with food. This may be the only place in Serbia offering butter tea. The interior has a distinct Chinese flavor to it.
Seal&Tea - Novi Sad
Novi Sad's only tea house opened in November 2023 and has a cute upstairs loft area. They also have a go board for anyone who wants to play while enjoying their tea.
Honorable mentions - online tea stores
Some local tea shops do not have a physical shop to buy or drink tea, but instead they sell tea from their online shop.
